Solid fuel boiler and liquid fuel boilers features

By fuel type

A large number of boiler plants still run on liquid fuels. In addition to diesel, this category also includes crude oil, fuel oil and waste industrial oil. Startup is quick. No license is required to use a liquid fuel boiler. They can be used independently if desired.

Such complexes do not have advanced measuring equipment. They can be easily taken offline when needed. Solid fuel boiler systems are also common. It can use firewood, coal, wood waste, peat and other fuels.

Solid fuel equipment itself is cheap, inexpensive and second-hand fuel. However, insertion into the combustion chamber is difficult and requires special parts. A slag and ash removal system should also be provided. Coal-fired boilers have been a traditional, proven method of generating heat for decades. Its facilities and infrastructure have been designed with attention to the smallest details.

Solid fuel boiler features:

  1. Independent from the main network;

  2. Decent efficiency (80 - 84% efficiency is the norm in modern samples);

  3. the availability and availability of coal;

  4. The cost of laying out the complex is minimal;

  5. Limited staff;

  6. Difficulties in fuel storage;

  7. Fire protection boxes need to be stored daily;

  8. The air is severely blocked;

  9. Workflow needs to be constantly monitored.

As for liquid fuel boilers, they are usually:

  • Achieve 86-98% efficiency;

  • Installed without special permission;

  • The possibility of switching to natural gas simply by replacing the burner;

  • Improve device independence;

  • Suitable for operation on alternative fuel types (generally not what people commonly think of as "diesel");

  • Efficient connection to any heating system (regardless of water or antifreeze circulation);

  • Workplace regulation is more costly;

  • Requires large fuel tanks;

  • The fuel itself emits an unpleasant odor, especially when burned;

  • Increased requirements for fuel quality (good liquid fuel is difficult to supply in some remote areas).

In addition, it is worth mentioning the electric boiler system. This type of boiler requires no separate room and no chimney. Electric heating units are relatively inexpensive. There is no need to prepare any fuel storage for this. Everything will be in order and the environmental indicators will be perfect; the only serious drawback is the high cost of using electricity for heating.
